Are you earning what you want to earn from your Internet business? Are you taking full advantage of all of your online opportunities? If you’re working harder and harder on marketing, but not seeing your business building in the way that you want, perhaps it’s time to step back and take a look at your methods.
Here’s a fact for you. The potential to earn money on the Internet is virtually unlimited. The opportunities to make money on the Internet are amazing. Who could have imagined just five years ago that a little free Internet dating site could – within a very short time – be valued as a multi-million dollar property? A couple of college students conceived of it, launched it and five years later – there they are with a social networking and dating site that has hundreds of thousands of users and supports dozens of employees. What’s the difference between them and you?
Let me answer that by giving you a simple theory, and then explaining how it applies to your Internet business. The theory I’m talking about is called the Perato principle and it says that 80% of effects come from 20% of the causes. In other words, most of your problems stem from very few actual causes. How does this work when it comes to Internet marketing and business?
Quite simply, it applies to any business endeavor, not just an internet business. It says that most of your obstacles are actually caused by very few things. You may think that you have 50 problems to deal with, but if you look at them in a different way, you’ll realize that you have THREE things causing fifty different problems. Once you identify those three things and address them, you will clear away – you guessed it – fifty problems that have been holding you back.
Let’s cut to the chase, though, shall we? How does knowing this help YOU take advantage of all of the amazing opportunities that exist on the Internet? Let’s start with just ONE basic, very common assumption – you cannot launch your website until it is perfect. That’s not a bad thing, is it? Shouldn’t everyone be striving for perfection? It seems simple enough – until you examine how it is affecting your timeline and your ability to do what needs to be done.
Challenge the assumption that everything must be perfect by doing this: make a list of all the things that must be done before you can launch your website. Now imagine that you HAVE to launch your website in exactly 48 hours. Look over that list again and put a star next to the things that you absolutely can not launch your web site without. How much of your list did you cut out? How many of those things will actually be easier to accomplish once you’re live and earning money?
The important thing to remember is that you can’t find the right solutions unless you’re attacking the right root causes. Once you understand what your true constraints are – what are the things that are keeping your internet business from being successful – you can find solutions that will really work, and really allow you to maximize ALL of your opportunities on the Internet.
